This weekend (Sept. 23-24), PeaceWorks Kansas City will celebrate local artists with its annual art fair.
To be held at Theis Park in Kansas City, Missouri, the event will feature 70-plus artists who’ll exhibit and sell their work.
“Our art fair welcomes diverse artists from the local area, especially new and emerging artists,” said Ann Suellentrop, MS, RN, an artist and a vice-chair of PeaceWorks, in a press release.
The art fair — in its 32nd edition — will serve as a fundraiser for the organization, according to its official website. PeaceWorks is a nonprofit all-volunteer organization promoting peace and justice.
“The fair benefits first the artists, then PeaceWorks,” reads the press release.
The proceeds will be split between the artists and the nonprofit, according to its website.
Formerly known as the UNplaza Art Fair, this year’s event will be all about highlighting local art and its intersection with peace, and connecting with others, as Suellentrop explains in the press release.
“The way to true peace is not merely the stopping of violence. It’s understanding, trusting and connecting with others,” she said. “Solidarity, mutual aid and love in action are necessary to prevent violence from even entering our thoughts.”
The art fair will be open to the public 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 23) and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 24).

Este fin de semana (23 y 24 de septiembre), PeaceWorks Kansas City celebrará a los artistas locales con su feria de arte anual.

“Nuestra feria de arte da la bienvenida a diversos artistas del área local, especialmente artistas nuevos y emergentes”, dijo Ann Suellentrop, MS, RN, artista y vicepresidenta de PeaceWorks, en un comunicado de prensa.
La feria de arte, en su 32ª edición, servirá como recaudación de fondos para la organización, según su sitio web oficial. PeaceWorks es una organización sin fines de lucro formada exclusivamente por voluntarios que promueve la paz y la justicia.
“La feria beneficia primero a los artistas y luego a PeaceWorks”, se lee en el comunicado de prensa.
Las ganancias se dividirán entre los artistas y la organización sin fines de lucro, según su sitio web.
Anteriormente conocida como Feria de Arte UNplaza, el evento de este año tendrá como objetivo resaltar el arte local y su intersección con la paz, y conectarse con otros, como explica Suellentrop en el comunicado de prensa.
“El camino hacia la paz verdadera no es simplemente detener la violencia. Es comprender, confiar y conectarse con los demás”, dijo. “La solidaridad, la ayuda mutua y el amor en acción son necesarios para evitar que la violencia entre siquiera en nuestros pensamientos”.
La feria de arte estará abierta al público de 10 a.m. a 6 p.m. el sábado (23 de septiembre) y de 10 a.m. a 5 p.m. el domingo (24 de septiembre).
