Fall arrives on Friday (Sept. 22).
With the arrival of autumn comes some opportunities for Kansas City, Missouri, residents to declutter their homes and dispose of unwanted items.
The City of Fountains will host numerous drop-off events across various districts, each one catering to different disposal needs. Participation is open to all Kansas City residents.
The events, stated on the city’s website, include the following:
*1st District, citywide drop-off: From 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (Sept. 23) at Hodge Park (58 N.E. Reinking Road), items including trash and bulky items, electronics and tires will be accepted. A fee will apply to the disposal of electronic items.
*3rd District, citywide drop-off: From 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 30, the 3rd District will accept drop-offs at multiple locations, including 1115 E. 34th St., 4229 Forrest Ave., 2801 Brooklyn Ave., and the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and East 43rd Street. Accepted items will include leaves and brush, and trash and bulky items.
*UnDumpster Day: From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a special event on Oct. 7 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Gate 3, Lot L.
*5th District, citywide drop-off: From 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 14, the 5th District is hosting drop-off events at several locations, including Southeast High School, Center Academy for Success, Ruskin High School and 3001 E. 81st St. Accepted items include trash and bulky items, brush, tires, shredding services and electronics (with fees).
*6th District, citywide drop-off: The 6th District event will be held 8 a.m.-noon on Oct. 21 at South Broadland Presbyterian Church, located at 7850 Holmes; and First Baptist Church of Kansas City, located at 100 Red Bridge Road. Accepted items will include trash and bulky items, leaves and brush, tires and electronics (with fees).
*Citywide NEAT drop-off: From 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 28, drop-off events will be available at various locations, including Lykins Square, Budd Park, Sheffield Park and Athletic Fields Park. Accepted items differ by location and include leaves and brush, trash and bulky items, tires and electronics (with fees).
*Hard-to-recycle items drop-off: Scheduled for 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 4 at the Manual Career & Technical Center (1215 E. Truman Road), a broad category of items will be accepted at this event, including glass, household hazardous waste and electronics (with fees).
