On Dec. 9, 84 volunteers came to unify efforts with Tony Aguirre Community Center Staff, Irene Ruiz Staff, KCPD-WCAN Police officers and Westside CAN Day Labor volunteers.
“It is just amazing how volunteers from all ages came to give their time and skill for an amazing celebration day for the residents of the Westside and Roanoke Community,” said Jorge Coromac, Westside CAN director. “So grateful that Tony Aguirre Community Center was ready and full operation for this great community celebration. It has been 22 years of continued commitment to bring volunteers and organizations and Santa Claus to celebrate Christmas at the Westside, the Bestside.”
An amazing day to celebrate the Westside 22nd Christmas party for sure. We would like to extend deepest gratitude to Rotary Club 13, Arvest Bank, Friends of the Olathe Stake and Westside CAN friends/supporters for helping us to collect toys for all of the children and families that participated today.
TACC and The City of Kansas City provided gift cards, hot dogs, cocoa, Christmas cookies, family photos with Santa, candy canes, and wonderful decorations, to name a few.
The event for children and families started at 11 a.m., but a lot of preparation before the time. All kids received a new toy. Several parents and grandparents expressed their gratitude for this traditional event that year to year bring so much happiness to the children, family and community!

Westside CAN organiza su 22va. celebración de navidad comunitaria
El 9 de diciembre, 84 voluntarios vinieron a unificar esfuerzos con el personal del Centro Comunitario Tony Aguirre, el personal de Irene Ruiz, los oficiales de policía del KCPD-WCAN y los voluntarios de los jornaleros de Westside CAN.
“Es simplemente sorprendente cómo voluntarios de todas las edades vinieron a dar su tiempo y habilidad para un día de celebración increíble para los residentes de la comunidad de Westside y Roanoke”, dijo Jorge Coromac, director de Westside CAN. “Estoy agradecido de que el Centro Comunitario Tony Aguirre estuviera listo y en pleno funcionamiento para esta gran celebración comunitaria. Han sido 22 años de compromiso continuo para traer voluntarios y organizaciones y a Papá Noel para celebrar la Navidad en el Westside, el Mejor Barrio”.
Sin duda, un día increíble para celebrar la fiesta de Navidad número 22 de Westside. Nos gustaría extender nuestro más profundo agradecimiento al Rotary Club 13, Arvest Bank, Friends of the Olathe Stake y a los amigos/partidarios de Westside CAN por ayudarnos a recolectar juguetes para todos los niños y familias que participaron de este evento.
El TACC y la Ciudad de Kansas City ofrecieron tarjetas de regalo, hot dogs, chocolate, galletas navideñas, fotos familiares con Papá Noel, bastones de caramelo, y decoraciones maravillosas, entre otros.
El evento para niños y familias comenzó a las 11 a.m., pero hubo mucha preparación antes de tiempo. Todos los niños recibieron un juguete nuevo. ¡Varios padres y abuelos expresaron su agradecimiento por este tradicional evento que año con año trae tanta felicidad a los niños, la familia y la comunidad!
