‘Destruiremos a ISIS’

Isis

By Paula Alzate
On Sunday (Dec. 6) President Obama delivered a speech regarding the fear Americans face towards the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) and the link between the latest mass shooting in San Bernardino, Cali., and the terrorist group.
In his speech the president emphasized on the importance of gun control enforcement and implementing security measures to battle terrorism.
“The threat from terrorism is real but we will overcome it,” he said. We will destroy ISIS and any other organization that tries to harm us. We will prevail by being strong and smart… Let’s not forget that freedom is always more powerful than fear.”
According to Obama, world leaders such as the French president and United Kingdom Prime minister have increase attacks against ISIS after the terrorist attacks that occurred in Paris on Nov. 13, and the mass shooting in California.
At the same time, Obama said he wants the country to stop racism against Islam and said he wants people to understand the difference between Islam and ISIS.
“ISIS doesn’t speak for Islam. They are thugs and killers,” he said. “We cannot turn against one another by letting this war be defined as a fight against Islam.”
