Memorial Day commemorated at Union Station

By Tere Siqueira

On May 28, Union Station and the National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, partnered to celebrate Memorial Day weekend by staging the annual Bank of America Celebration at the Station.
The event began at 5 p.m. with various activities and entertainment for the attendees. More than 20 food trucks and numerous vendors and booths were available for those seeking to shop or gather information.
Entertainment before the main event included Drive On and the Back Alley Brass Band. Activities also included “Remembering Our Fallen,” a display tribute inside Union Station to those service members who had been killed in action.
The main events were a Kansas City Symphony concert and a fireworks display. Led by Michael Stern, the show featured guest performers The Resilient, a Pennsylvania-based band composed of U.S. combat veterans. In true festival style, attendees were encouraged to bring their comforts from home – picnic blankets, chairs and homemade snacks – to enjoy the music and other activities.
The night ended with a burst of colors as the firework display painted the sky, synced to the sounds of the Kansas City Symphony.

Antes del acto principal actuaron Drive On y la Back Alley Brass Band.
