In this edition, we will talk about the Mexican tropical paradise of Cancun, perhaps the most famous internationally. A few weeks ago we talked about Tulum, a really close city to Cancun. But why spend another week in this area? Undoubtedly, because of the innumerable amount of places to visit. Not only in Quintana Roo, but throughout the Riviera Maya. Added to that we must say that we missed many tips and recommendations for when you visit the area. To get into the subject here are the first ones:
When buying your plane tickets don’t check only for direct flights to Cancun, you might be surprised by all the discounts you can find when you travel from other cities in Mexico. I advise you to check if your ticket to one of those cities is cheaper than a direct flight to Cancun. In general, most flights have at least one layover and you will be surprised by the hundreds of dollars that you could save.
If your plan is to visit archaeological zones, ecological water park or the best beaches in the area, I advise you to make your hotel reservation simple. Do not hire an all-inclusive, in the end, you will spend it on the street and you will not enjoy the perks of it. The area of hotels in Cancun is not located in the most beautiful beaches, this is to preserve these beaches as virgin as possible. If you want to save more money in accommodation, you can search online for apartments or small houses in the downtown area at a price of $15 or $20 per night and then use the public transportation, Uber, or rent a car to get to the different tourist attractions.
Compare prices of all packages that you are offered upon your arrival. From one agency to another, they can vary up to $50 per attraction. Investigate, take your time to decide. The more attractions you take with the same agency, the more discounts you will get. Do not be afraid to bargain(ask for greater discounts on products), the prices offered are always up to double the price given to a local person.
Now, with all these tips that will make you save your money, I describe some places to discover:
Visit Isla Mujeres, it is located 8 miles from the coast of Cancun. You can get there by boat, hiring a package that includes: food, snorkeling, a visit to the sanctuary of the turtles, among other things with prices from $30 and up. You can take a ferry that has rides every half hour, by paying $40 for a round trip. There is also a ferry that leaves every hour where you can take your vehicle for $20, this will make a more comfortable visit to the island. If you want to snorkel or dive, this place is ideal even if you are a beginner. Its waters are extremely calm, on the edge of looking like a natural pool. Playa Norte is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in all Mexico. A magnificent place if what you want is to rest in an hamaca and enjoy a beautiful landscape. In some seasons you can hire packages to swim with whale sharks and dolphins with prices starting at $70.
Discover Xcaret, recognized as the best eco-tourism park in the world in 2016. Located 47 miles from Cancun, it is undoubtedly one of the must-see places in your visit. Admire the landscape on the heights, climb the 80 meter scenic tower, go through the secret passages hidden in the jungle to get to a Mayan town, navigate the underground rivers that cross the jungle, see the flora and fauna of the place, visit the replica of an ancient Mayan village where you will learn much more about its culture, discover the archaeological sites that are located throughout the park, take time to thank God in one of the chapels, enjoy the museum of popular art and buy some beautiful gifts made by artists in the area, taste the cuisine of the region or enjoy the biggest show in all Cancun and the Mayan Riviera -where you can enjoy more than 300 actors with original costumes that will give you a trip through the history of Mexico from pre-Hispanic times to the present time, with a colorful show, typical dances, mariachi and much more. The price for general admission to the park it’s $ 90, but for a total of $110, you can add food. There are some activities that have an extra charge, some of them include: swimming with sharks, doing an underwater walk or snorkeling in the reef for $60. Swim with dolphins or enjoy the views and speed in the air by skydiving on a parachute at 200 meters for $100.

Conoce Cancún
Bienvenidos turistas, en esta edición nos toca hablar del paraíso tropical mexicano quizás más conocido a nivel internacional, obviamente nos referimos a Cancún. Hace unas semanas hablamos de Tulum, ciudad muy cercana a Cancún, ¿Por qué dedicar una semana más a este zona? Sin duda por la innumerable cantidad de sitios cercanos para visitar, no sólo en Quintana Roo, sino en toda la Riviera Maya. Sumado a eso hay que decir que nos faltaron muchos consejos y recomendaciones para cuando visites la zona. Para entrar en materia ahí les van los primeros consejos:
Al comprar tus boletos de avión revisa no sólo vuelos directos a Cancún, te podrías sorprender la serie de descuentos que puedes encontrar para viajar de algunas ciudades de México a Cancún, por lo que te recomiendo que revises si de tu ciudad a una de esas ciudades mexicanas te sale más económico que directo a Cancún, a fin de cuentas la mayoría de vuelos tienen al menos una escala. Te sorprenderá los cientos de dólares que te podrías ahorrar.
Si tu plan es el de conocer zonas arqueológicas, parques acuáticos ecológicos, las mejores playas de la zona, te recomiendo que tu reservación de hotel la hagas sencilla, no contrates un todo incluído, a fin de cuentas te la pasarás en la calle y no gozarás de los privilegios del mismo. La zona hotelera de Cancún no está localizada en las playas más hermosas, y con justa razón, para que éstas se conserven lo más vírgenes posibles. Incluso si deseas ahorrar más dinero en hospedaje puedes buscar en internet departamentos o casas pequeñas en la zona centro de la ciudad con un costo de $15 o $20 por noche y ya de ahí transportarte en transporte público, Uber, auto rentado o como tu gustes a las distintas zonas turísticas.
Compara precios de todos los paquetes de atacciones que te promocionen a tu llegada. De una agencia a otra pueden variar hasta $50 por atracción. Investiga, toma tu tiempo para decidir. Entre más atracciones tomes con la misma agencia más descuentos en conjunto te harán. No temas a regatear como se dice vulgarmente (pedir mayores descuentos en los productos), los precios ofrecidos siempre están hasta al doble del precio que se los dan a una persona de la localidad.
Ahora si, con todos estos consejitos que te harán disfrutar al máximo tu dinero, te describo algunos sitios para conocer:
Visita Isla Mujeres, se encuentra a 8 millas de la costa de Cancún. Puedes llegar a la misma en barco, contratando algún paquete que incluya: alimentos, esnorquel, visita a al santuario de las tortugas entre otras cosas y que puedes conseguir desde $30 o bien puedes tomar un Ferry, con todas las comodidades y que sale cada media hora de ambas terminales por $40 ida y vuelta o uno que salga cada hora y en el que puedas incluso trasladarte con tu vehículo para que transites por toda la isla con comodidad desde $20 redondo. Si deseas hacer esnórquel o bucear, este lugar es ideal aún si eres principiante, sus aguas son sumamente tranquilas, al borde de parecer una alberca natural. Playa norte es considerada una de las playas más bonitas de todo México. Un magnífico lugar si lo que deseas es descansar en una amaca y disfrutar de un hermoso paísaje. En ciertas temporadas puedes contratar paquetes para nadar con tiburones ballena y con delfines con precios desde $70.
Conoce Xcaret, con un reconocimiento como el mejor parque eco turístico del mundo en 2016. Es sin duda uno de los lugares imperdibles en tu visita a Cancún, está localizado a 47 millas de Cancún. Admira el paísaje en las alturas, sube la torre escénica de 80 metros, atraviesa los pasajes secretos escondidos en la selva para llegar al pueblo maya, navega por los ríos subterráneos que atraviesan la selva, contempla la flora y fauna del lugar, visita la réplica de un antiguo pueblo maya en donde aprenderás mucho más de su cultura, conoce las zonas arqueológicas que se encuentran en todo el parque, tómate un tiempo para dar gracias a Dios en alguna de las capillas con las que cuenta, disfruta del museo de arte popular y compra algunos hermosos recuedos hechos por los artistas de la zona, degusta la gastronomía de la región, disfruta del espectáculo más grande de todo Cancún y la riviera maya en el que podrás disfrutar de más de 300 actores con vestuarios originales que te darán un viaje por la historia de México desde la época prehispánica hasta la época actual, con espectáculo de colores, bailes y danzas típicas, con mariachi y mucho más. La entrada general al parque tiene un costo regular de $90, pero si deseas y te lo recomiendo agregar alimentación tiene un costo de $110, hay actividades opcionales entre las que destacan, nado con tiburones $60, caminata submarina con casco $60, esnorquel en el arrecife $60, nado con delfines $100, elévate en paraxute a 200 metros de altura y disfruta del paísaje y la velocidad en el aire por $100 y así como esas hay muchas más.
