Area residents have a new way to see the Kansas City, Missouri, skyline: the KC Wheel.
As multiple media outlets reported, the Ferris wheel – also called an observational wheel – officially opened Dec. 14 at 2485 Jefferson St. in Kansas City. By going up in one of the wheel’s climate-controlled gondolas, riders have a 360-degree view of the city and can see such sites as Union Station, the Kauffman Center and the City Hall Building from the 150-foot-tall wheel. In addition, as the website for the attraction states, the ride features a VIP gondola.
Wheel rides last an estimated 12-15 minutes.
Other features include LED lights with multiple color combinations that can be rented to display combinations that commemorate holidays and other special occasions.
The attraction is wheelchair-accessible. Moreover, people with service animals are welcome to bring their animals with them.
To ride the wheel, reserve tickets via the KC Wheel website. Ticket options include individual passes for the KC Wheel and Pennway Putt, a miniature golf course, or a combo pass to take in both attractions.
The KC Wheel operates under most weather conditions; however, extreme weather, such as lightning or tornadoes, might force a temporary closing of the attraction for safety concerns.
