Empezando con una recepción de apertura el viernes 9 de octubre a las 6:00 p.m., la Coalición de Artistas en Kansas City, Mo., presentará el trabajo de Ireri Topete y Nunik Sauret hasta el 12 de noviembre.
Topete y Sauret, originarias de México, presentarán sus libros de artista; según Sauret, su trabajo se basa en grabados japoneses y Topete presentará trabajo de un proyecto de tres años.
“Las piezas que traje corresponden a un proyecto que yo llamo ‘Agua, Sol y Sal: La vida en el puerto’”, dijo Topete. “El primer año, hice hincapié en … la naturaleza y sus cambios. El segundo año, cubrí los temas que tienen que ver con los cambios sociales – y el tercer año, me he centrado en experiencias personales. Traigo piezas de cada año.”
Además de la exposición, los artistas hablarán sobre su trabajo y trabajaran en un proyecto con el Instituto de Arte de Kansas City. Van a estar en el área de Kansas City por tres semanas como parte de artistas en residencia con la Coalición de Artistas.
Según Sauret, los dos artistas comparten una pasión por el arte y la enseñanza. Ambos se especializan en artes plásticas y pintura y al mismo tiempo enseñan en Puerto Vallarta y Ciudad de México.

Works by Topete, Sauret on display in KC

Starting with a 6 p.m. opening reception on Friday (Oct. 9), the Artists Coalition in Kansas City, Mo., will present the work of Ireri Topete and Nunik Sauret through Nov. 12.
Topete and Sauret, who are both from Mexico, will present their artist’s books. According to Sauret, her work is based on Japanese prints. Topete will present work from a three-year project.
“The pieces I brought correspond to a project I call ‘Water, Sun and Salt: Life in the Harbor,’ ” Topete said. “The first year, I emphasized … nature and its changes. The second year, I covered topics that have to do with social changes – and the third year, I focused on personal experiences. I bring pieces from each year.”
Besides the exhibit, the artists will discuss their work and work on a project with the Kansas City Art Institute. They’ll be in the Kansas City area for three weeks as part of their artists in residency with the Artists Coalition before returning to Mexico.
According to Sauret, the two artists share a passion for art and teaching. Both specialize in fine arts and painting and teach in Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City.
