Welcome tourists! In this edition we will talk about Dublin, Ireland, a city founded by Vikings and that is currently the capital of their country. Founded around the year 841 by the Vikings, in order to use it as a military base and slave trade center. It has a population of just over half a million residents and its metropolitan area has almost 2 million.
Dublin has a vast literary history recognized worldwide, thanks to its great writers, among which are Nobel Laureates George Bernard Shaw, Samuel Beckett, and William Buttler, as well as other great writers such as Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift and Brendan Behan.
Round flights from Kansas to Dublin has an average price of $850 with at least one layover. The most popular and comfortable way to get around the city is through the Metropolitan Dublin Metro which runs along the coast of the city. To move within the city is ideal to take the city buses and the tram. Keep in mind that if you want to rent a vehicle, you must be prepared to drive on the opposite side of the usual ones and even the vehicles have the steering wheel on the opposite side so if you are not the best driver maybe you should not take any risk of an accident. Accommodation within Dublin is quite high compared to other European cities, a room in a 3-star hotel has an average cost of $80 per night, while in a 5-star hotel it has an average cost of $260.
In the Irish cuisine, we should highlight the Irish stew which is made with lamb, potatoes, onion and parsley, fresh oysters, served on ice, Boxty, a type of potato cake. A typical Irish coffee is made with cream, lots of sugar and Irish whiskey. Try the famous malt beer, Stout. The average price of a meal It is $16. Consider that the Irish dinner happens around 6 pm, so you can find better deals on food around that time.

O’Connell Street is undoubtedly one of the main arteries of the city. The street begins on the Liffey River ends at Parnell Street. It is undoubtedly one of the main shopping centers of the city. You can also enjoy many historical monuments and emblematic buildings of the city, such as the Central Post Office in Dublin, built in 1818 and the place where the Republic of Ireland was proclaimed in 1916. In addition to other buildings that were not destroyed after the Irish Civil War.
Temple Bar is one of the oldest and most popular neighborhoods in the city. Here you can enjoy bars, restaurants, and a great atmosphere at any time. Without a doubt, it is the main cultural and leisure center of the city. This is the best choice if your plan is to go out and have fun at night.
The Dublin Castle is located in the very heart of the city. Dublinia is an interactive museum that allows you to go back in time to medieval times and the Vikings. The museum is located in a neo-Gothic building built in 1875 on the medieval church of St. Michael. All the exhibitions have recreations of life-size scenes, which allows you to really feel at that time. The visit is divided into 3 sections. Dublin Viking, where you will transport yourself in time until the 800’s, where you can try on the clothes they wore and become a Viking warrior or a slave. The medieval Dublin, where you can know what it was like to enter the house of a rich medieval merchant, walk through the markets and the dirty streets that surrounded the city. Finally, the Story Hunters, where you will be a detective, you will have to investigate and increase the historical archives and get to know in depth the past of the city. The admission fee is $13
Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is the oldest cathedral of the Protestants. Built-in 1038 by the Viking king Sitric in wood. Its current construction started in 1172 and lasted more than half a century. Under the church, there is a huge 12th-century crypt which is the oldest ancient structure in Dublin. The entrance fee is $8
St. Patrick’s Cathedral was erected in honor of the patron saint of Ireland. It’s the largest church in the city, during your tour you can see the passage of centuries in their different busts, sepulchral monuments, and plaques intended to commemorate some of the Irish citizens most famous of history. Here you will be able to know the pile where Saint Patrick baptized the converts in medieval times. The entrance fee is $7.50.

Bienvenidos turistas, en esta edición nos toca hablar de una ciudad fundada por vikingos y que actualmente es la capital de su país, nos referimos a Dublín, Irlanda. Fundada alrededor del año 841 por los vikingos, con el fin de usarla como base militar y centro de comercio de esclavos, cuenta con una población de poco más de medio millón de habitantes, mientras que su área metropolitana cuenta con casi 2 millones de habitantes.
Dublín cuenta con basta historia literaria reconocida a nivel mundial, eso gracias a sus grandes escritores entre los que destacan los ganadores del Nobel George Bernard Shaw, Samuel Beckett y William Buttler, así como otros grandes escritores como Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, Brendan Behan entre otros.
Los vuelos redondos de Kansas a Dublín tienen un costo promedio de $850 contando todos ellos con al menos una escala. La forma más popular y cómoda de moverse dentro de la ciudad es a través del Metro Metropolitano de Dublín el cual recorre toda la costa de la ciudad, para moverse dentro de la ciudad es ideal tomar los autobuses urbanos y el tranvía, ten en consideración que si deseas rentar un vehículo deberás estar preparado para manejar del lado contrario a los que tienes habitualmente acostumbrado e incluso los vehículos tienen el volante del lado contrario por lo que sino eres el mejor conductor quizás no deberás correr riesgos de algún accidente. El hospedaje dentro de Dublín es bastante elevado a comparación de otras ciudades europeas, una habitación en un hotel 3 estrellas tiene un costo promedio de $80 la noche, mientras que en un hotel 5 estrellas tiene un costo promedio de $260 por noche, sin embargo si haces tus reservaciones con buena anticipación te sorprenderá los descuentos que podrás obter por una habitación. Si hablamos de gastronomía irlandesa, debemos destacar el estofado irlandes el cual es elaborado con carne de cordero, patatas, cebolla y perejil, las ostras frescas, servidas sobre hielo, el Boxty, una tipo de pastel de papa y para tomar un café irlandes, compuesto de café, nata, mucha azúcar y whisky irlandés, así como una famosa cerveza de malta tostada Stout, una Lager o bien si eres de buen beber una Ale, cerveza de alta fermentación y alto contenido de alcohol, el costo promedio de una comida es de $16, considera que los irlandeses hacen su cena alrededor de las 6pm, así que podrás encontrar mejores ofertas en alimentos cercano a esas horas.

Calle O’Conell, es sin duda una de las principales arterias de la ciudad. La calle comienza en el río Liffeyy finaliza en la calle Parnell. Es sin duda uno de los principales centros de comercios de la ciudad, además de que podrás disfrutar de gran cantidad de monumentos históricos y edificios emblemáticos de la ciudad, como la Oficina Central de Correos de Dublín, construido en 1818 y que fue el lugar en donde se proclamó la República de Irlanda en 1916, además de otros edificios que no fueron destruidos luego de la Guerra Civil Irlandesa.
Temple Bar, es sin duda uno de los barrios más antiguos y populares de toda la ciudad, aquí podrás disfrutar de bares, restaurantes y mucho buen ambiente sin importar la hora. Sin duda es el principal centro cultural y de ocio de la ciudad. Sin duda si tu plan es el de salir a divertirte de noche esta es la mejor elección.
Castillo de Dublín, está situado en el pleno corazón de la ciudad. Este castillo a cumplido con gran variedad de funciones a lo largo de la historia, como asentamiento de los vikingos, fortaleza militar, residencia real, sede del Tribunal de Justicia y actualmente lugar de celebración de las recepciones estatales. Puedes obtener una visita guiada de 45 minutos, en donde se recorre gran parte de las edificaciones, como las habitaciones del Rey y Reina, el salón del trono, la torre de la pólvora, entre otros. Tras un incendio en 1684 el castillo tuvo que ser reconstruido casi por completo, por lo cual en su exterior no presenta el clásico aspecto de un castillo, mientras que por dentro conserva el aspecto exacto que el que utilizaba la familia Real al vivir ahí. El costo de entrada es de $9 y la visita guiada tiene un costo de $13.
Dublinia, es un museo interactivo que te permite regresar en el tiempo hasta la época medieval y de los vikingos. El museo se encuentra en un edificio neogótico construido en 1875 sobre la iglesia medieval de St. Michael. Todas las exposiciones cuentan con recreaciones de escenas a tamaño real, lo cual te permite realmente sentirte en esa fecha y lugar. La visita está dividida en 3 secciones, Dublín vikingo, en donde te transportarás en el tiempo hasta los años 800, podrás probarte las vestimentas que usaban y convertirte en un guerrero vikingo o en un esclavo. El Dublín medieval, en donde podrás saber lo que era entrar en la casa de un rico comerciante medieval, pasear por los mercados y las sucias calles que rodeaban la ciudad. Por último los Cazadores de Historias, lugar en donde serás un detective que deberás investigar y aumentar los archivos históricos y así conocer a fondo el pasado de la ciudad. Catedral de la Santísima Trinidad, es la catedral más antigua de los protestantes. Construida en el año 1038 por el rey vikingo Sitric en madera, para empezar su construcción actual en el año 1172 y que duró más de medio siglo su culminación. Bajo la iglesia se situa una enorme cripta del siglo XII la cual constituye la estructura antigua más antigua de todo Dublín. El costo de entrada es de $8
Catedral de San Patricio, erigida en honor del patrón de Irlanda, es la iglesia más grande de la ciudad, durante su recorrido podrás observar el paso de los siglos en sus distintos bustos, monumentos sepulcrales y placas mortuarias que pretenden conmemorar algunos de los ciudadanos más celebres de la historia irlandesa. Aquí podrás conocer la intacta pila donde San Patricio bautizó a los conversos en la época medieval. El costo de entrada es de $7.50.
